I picked up Moses at the train station…

The call came in an hour before I was set to pick up my passenger for a route that is not on my rate chart or one I did not consider when planning the service. The call was from a gentleman who was stranded at the train station and needed a ride home. His home was on the route I was about to travel in one hour on a Saturday afternoon. I called my other passenger to find out if we could ride share and it was a go. So, I set out to pick up my stranded passenger. While driving to the train station, I marveled at the coincidence of all of this. When I arrived, my weary traveler greeted me with a big smile and introduced himself as Moses. I instantly knew I was in for a great experience. Moses was stranded at the train station not by a mistake of his own, but by the train. He had been traveling since Thursday and his last stop was home, but unfortunately, the train missed his stop and he was now left in my hands and car to get home. Before picking up the next passenger, Moses shared his life with me that included serving our country for 12 years in 2 different branches of the military and war time. In addition to that, he retired from a life of public service as a fire inspector for over 20 years in a major metro area. #BostonStation29/Ladder11/Truck11. This man has lived a deep life of service, survival, family devotion, and faith that is unshakeable through even the most heartbreaking of times. What I learned from Moses will carry with me for as long as I am able to serve with this business - nothing is coincidental when you are doing what you are supposed to be doing. Not only take the call, if you are given one, but please Take Care! By the way, Moses has committed to sending me daily messages of prayer, support and encouragement. He is the coolest guy that I had the greatest privilege to drive. He gave me permission to share his story with you!
